It answers so many of life's questions, the type that comes up and that no one can agree on. Simple example: drive with the windows open or the air conditioner on? Turns out the Society of Automotive Engineers has the answer: windows open imposes a 20% gasoline penalty, air conditioning a 10% penalty, unless you are driving under 40 mph -- then driving with the windows open is slightly less expensive.I really enjoy the one that makes your head an antenna: if you put your car key next to your cheeks, you can make your car call out to you from much further away -- the liquid in your head acts as a conductor. I got a chance to apply that last night on a rainy night in New Jersey -- and it really worked. No response when held two feet from my body; immediate response when I held it next to my cheek. Amazing.[Just for fun, I tried this again this afternoon. The car chirped back at me for about 40 feet when held two feet away from my body. Held against my cheek, the key made it chirp for another 45 feet. It really works, at least in New Jersey. Good news for a codger who usually parks far from his destination to get in some extra exercise.]Simple, interesting things that really work. And fun to try out just to be sure. Has the makings of a great website. And Pogue is just the guy to moderate. His book on technology is superb: Pogue's Basics: Essential Tips and Shortcuts (That No One Bothers to Tell You) for Simplifying the Technology in Your Life. And, just out this December, a Ninth revision of his book on the iPhone, also superb: iPhone: The Missing Manual .Robert C. WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN WISDOM By Robert Steven Thomas This book is short, simple, straight to the point and absolutely of great value to millions of people of all types & background. It is an easy read, which will amaze you with the amount and simplicity of ways to overcome many of life's minor obstacles and hurdles. After having read them I believe most people will easily retain the incidents and easy solutions for the rest of their lives. Or, at least, when confronted with one of the hurdles, know exactly where to go (this book) to find the solution. It truly is the kind of reference book (although also an interesting read as well) that should be kept in everyone's home. (Pougue's prequel "Pougue's Basics" to this book is equally as good.)

By Big Daddy And being older than the author, and having more life experiences, many I did know.I would HIGHLY recommend this book. It should be given to all kids leaving home, whether off to college or just away from the folks. If even a person married 30 years can benefit from this book, I can't imagine who wouldn't. Unless you don't want to make your life easier.Or you can't read.
