The history of Graham and Treena is told in a manner that makes it hard to put down. If you ever wondered how some famous people become famous well this book will answer that question at least in regards to Graham Kerr.He did not live a normal life by any means. He was dead broke at times. This book is written in such a revealing and honest manner it makes one wonder if they could be as forthcoming and honest about themselves as much as Mr. Kerr has been in his book.Mr. Kerr brings the lifecycle of the Salmon into play in this book. It can be seen as an interesting parallel to his life, and to many of our lives for that matter. After reading the book I found I knew more about the life cycle of the Salmon in the Pacific Northwest than I had ever known before.The book covers much more than that however. What they did while they were getting caught up in a religious fervor, how they managed their lives. What kind of belief system did they rely on and did it work out for them, these are some of the interesting topics or shall I say, adventures of the Kerr’s covered in this book.Reading this book will fill some empty holes in your head you had regarding life and its many facets.

By Randy Turner There are few books that I’ve read in my life that were so captivating that I just I couldn’t put them down. The “Flash of Silver” is one of those books. The rich content is rewarding to read from so many perspectives and levels of understanding.It was inspiring to follow the amazing and inspiring life story of Graham and Treena Kerr from their early years of struggle (downstreaming), through oceans of opportunity reaching hundreds of millions of people through their television programs, to the moment their lives changed and they began the process of swimming (upstream) in the river of life as God led them through a “new and living way” and they were never the same again!I was especially touched to see how this 180 degree change in their lives for the better started with a simple knock on the door by a ‘very small young black woman’ named Ruthie, who simply wanted a job as a maid so she could earn money to become a missionary in Haiti. It was amazing to read how God used this gentle, humble young lady to plant a seed of God’s love in Graham and Treena’s home which ultimately changed their lives forever!This inspiring book was like a refreshing stream of how God’s love can overcome any challenges in life and, just like Ruthie, shows how Jesus is trying to get our attention by saying “I stand at the door and knock….” (Revelations 3:20) regardless of our status, accomplishments, or how deep we are in the ocean of life .I highly recommend this book and hope it will impact your life as it has mine. Trust me, you won’t be able to put it down and, if you will let it, it will change your life!

What an extra-ordinary life, moving from self-interest to one of service By Mary Lou Childs I have very little time for reading but couldn't put this book down. It was a mixture of an autobiography of Graham Kerr, aka "The Galloping Gourmet," and his wife Treena's early life, then moved into the second half of their life after a serious accident. Amazingly, their life wasn't over after that, it was just given a brand new direction. Like so many people, they had gone through life not giving God much thought. When this changed, their entire life changed. I was amazed at how they had so much fame and fortune but humbled themselves and did what they felt God wanted them to do. It is so refreshing to know there are people out there who "walk the walk." Highly recommended reading!
