Ronald Holloway clearly establishes how people are influenced not only by situational factors, but free thinking and transformational behavior. Knowledge as he expressed in his book comes from the overall ability for one to be able to be open-minded and a liberal free thinker. While education is the goal his mother proved that perception is in the eye of the beholder and being adaptable and improving self allows any and every one to overcome cultural factors. In the end his mom’s actions and words proved how goals, insights, and personal and professional development lead to the overall exemplification… Interpersonal Growth = Success!

With awe-inspiring and deeply moving tales of his mom which consisted of traditional and nontraditional approaches, but proved effective over the course of his life. He takes the feeling and emotions of how many young people feel when growing up and exposed how his mom’s words and actions would prove not only necessary, but indispensable in today’s world. His enlightenment and understanding of how his youth created who he was today is a true testament to her teachings. This has proven to be a brilliant follow-up rich with human connection.

By sochetra "How to be a Great Mom" would be an excellent gift to a parent to be or on the flip side of it even a young teenager growing up. I love how Ron Holloway, an admittedly hard headed kid growing up, tells the story of how, in hindsight, his mother through her tough love molded him in the man he is now. The descriptions of the many life lessons he learned such as how to be frugal and to value health and diversity paint a vivid picture of his great mom. And I also enjoyed the humorous take on the different types of mothering style like know it moms and helicopter moms. I recommend this book to all parents and children!
