Joseph Bates is the author of Tomorrowland: Stories (Curbside Splendor 2013). 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great resource for fiction writers By Kelly Schuknecht I am surprised by the reviews for this book. As of the date of my review there are only two other reviews on Amazon and both of them are only 3 stars. I feel like there must be some sort of secret about this book that I don't happen to be in on. Personally, I thought this book was excellent!If you have ever tried to write a novel (or have that on your bucket list for "some day"), this book is a must-read! I think Bates does a wonderful job of walking the reader through everything you need to know in order to put together a story that people will want to read. It may all seem pretty obvious, but having attempted to write three novels myself over the last few years, I found the information in this book eye-opening. If I participate in NaNoWriMo again in the future, I will definitely read through this book again before I begin and the worksheets in the back will be a fantastic resource.I highly recommend this book if you write fiction and/or want to write a novel someday.

Welsh I like Bates's approach, but to my dismay, I discovered this book is identical to the content of Nighttime Novelist, which I also own. I mean it is literally the same book, not rehashed.
1 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Don't bother wasting your money (UPDATED) Still not really impressed By C. Ann Don't waste your money. All of the "worksheets" that you are supposed to have access to when you purchase this book, don't even exist. What I mean is that when you click the link or even copy and paste or type it in, all you get is "This Page Does Not Exist". Disappointed does not even begin to express how I feel right about now.(UPDATE) So if you go to writers digest, type in the title, click the title link, you will finally be taken to the "worksheets" page. The worksheets themselves though are like many you can find for free on the internet. Therefore, you only need to read the book and use the worksheets you have most likely already downloaded and printed elsewhere. So this is an okay purchase for someone just looking for a bit of writing encouragement. Although, some of the advice may inspire you personally, I have had no such luck.
