This is a cantadora, a griotte, and she is my sister in ways that remind me of why I got my degree in Transformative Language Arts. She is a truth-teller using the magic around us, and her amazing talent as a story spinner. I see her soul on display when I read her tales, and I see every woman unafraid to be wild. This book, and every other work I've read by Kristy Webster horrifies me, because she makes me look at myself in all my artistic nakedness (the work I have done, and have yet to do). I hate her, and I love her, as I hate and love all who carry the burden of telling, including myself. Kristy MAKES me look at my heart and my crotch, and my tears, and my power. Damn her and praise her – she makes me look.Coco is an amazing tale, and so magical it'll knock you over, but so sweet you'll dive into it, as you will all of her other short stories. Despite all of the awesome vignettes, art pieces, short and long tales, and hilarious phrases, I think "The Conscience of Spiders" is the most beautiful realization of Transformative Language Arts I've seen. It inspires me to do the work of story, of body, of myth and archetype. On par with Clarissa Pinkola Estés (and oh how I'd LOVE to sit down to tea with these two), Webster's powerful wielding of words will leave you spellbound, and begs the question - where has this awesome mind been, and how can we read more of what she is writing?!She makes me work harder to be a more honest wordsmith.

Prepare yourself to fall in love By thorn Kristy Webster lets you into her heart and psyche like it's no big deal...and yet, we feel ourselves shamed that we cannot live with authenticity with which she writes with such apparent ease. Too often the stories that emanate from the disenfranchised, tortured souls are stories of victims and their survival, and we are to be stunned by their accomplishment. Kristy, however, is other worldly. She writes with such sweet simplicity, and such staggering imagery, that we are left with a vague awareness that there is so much that goes on in our own lives that we are too numb, or too blind to see. You cannot read Kristy without loving her. She is the reason that men love women: vulnerable, real, and with a spirit so deep it can never be plumbed.

Excerpt from The Painters Palette: A Theory of Tone Relations, an Instrument of ExpressionIn taking up the practice of painting, it is a question what pigments to use, how to arrange them on the palette, and then how to use the palette. Following the example of most painters, we take certain pigments; blacks, browns, reds, yellows, greens, blues, and whites; and, putting them in a row, we proceed to mix them, two or more together, quite freely, following our visual impressions or the suggestions of the imagination. In so doing we hope to produce results and effects which will be appropriate to what we have seen or to the ideas we have to express. There is no principle or law in this procedure and the effects produced depend, in every case, upon the taste and judgment of the performer; who is, necessarily, as much concerned with the problems of the palette as he is with the problem of his Motif or Subject, whether it is well chosen; of his Design, whether it is consistent; or of his Drawing, whether it is true or expressive. It is so difficult to decide what to do, in view of the great number and variety of pigments, and the infinite possibilities of mixing them together. Most painters get over the difficulty by acquiring a habit and doing the same thing repeatedly, following the precedents of their own particular practice, whatever it happens to be.Considering the Art of Music and the use of musical instruments, it seems that the musician has a great advantage over the painter in having a fixed scale of tones and definite rules for using it, - rules based on good precedents and representing the practice of recognized masters. The Characters Are All Around Us By Harvest Eve As I sat reading under the shade of a mesquite tree on a hot suburban Tucson afternoon, I turned the page to the essay titled "The Eye of The Dragonfly" and a giant dragonfly landed on the corner of my book and we simply stared into each other's eyes. His appearance magically enhanced my understanding of Ms Bowers' thoughtful observations.

It starts with the basics, but quickly runs through the basic principles of infrastructure automation via different tools like Ansible and Docker. The book also explains in detail how to monitor and deploy servers or applications to production in a controlled and automated way.I did especially like the chapters Metric collection with InfluxDB and Log Management as logs and metrics are too often simply collected but then ignored, but this book makes them feel like a natural part of the deployment and management process.Once you master the tools and ideas presented in the book it is quite an eye opener to the possibilities of DevOps and especially Infrastructure as a Code.

It explains recent arguments in a very clear way and it goes deep as necessary. If you work with Agile or DevOps or want to implement in your next project, this book is for you start the right way, this tools give you a more structured project management and development point of view, the team could be more engaged and the process more clear. The book has a good structure and the author know what most of your projects need.

I read everything I can written by Jason Bailey, including his Woody Allen book, and I'm not at all a Woody Allen guy. I'm way more of a Richard Pryor fan, and this book absolutely does justice to him and his comedy. It's interesting in light of other Richard Pryor books, like Furious Cool or Becoming Richard Pryor (by Scott Saul) or even Pryor Convictions. Those are more strictly chronological, whereas here the various phases of Richard Pryor's life and art are grouped together in compelling and inspired ways. This book is a fine addition to anyone's Richard Pryor library. Richard Pryor: American Id

I normally LOVE the Bathroom Readers' Institute's line of books, but this one seemed to be a little.... to dull. It certainly delivers on all the info it tells you it has between the covers, but, it's just lacking anything that keeps it fun or exciting.It's good info to have if you are ever caught in a wild situation, but the book was a little too serious for what I was expecting.

A Friendly Book With Mistakes By Catherine The good sides to Swan’s Learn Italian include an overview of Italians’ customs and habits, a step-by-step guide into different and common life situations, a friendly format that is really easy to understand, and sentences along with their translations in English. Moreover, it touches the alphabet and its pronounciation before tackling other topics such as booking a hotel room, the numbers, the world’s countries, etc.However, I have found that no grammar was explained. For a book that is about Learning the basics of a new language, there was no grammar, which is a basis for learning Italian as we might stuff our head with pre-made sentences, but if we don’t know the why or how-to, it won’t really help us in the end as we venture into building our own sentences. I also noticed several typos in English and mistakes in Italian! Yes, you have read well. In a guide to learning Italian, there are mistakes. For example, it is written ‘’É’’ instead of ‘’È’’, ‘’succhero’’ instead of ‘’zucchero’’,etc. It changes the pronounciation and meaning of what you want to say. Now that’s not really helpful, is it?Overall, it is a fine book if you are looking for cultural notes and vocabulary lists to improve what you already know. However, the lack of grammar and mistakes almost make it useless for learners as they don't really teach the basics to the language and they teach the wrong pronounciation and writing of the words, and you never know where they might hide. For that reason, I give it a 3 out of 5 rating.I received the book for free, through Reading Deals, in exchange for an honest review.

Why?There is a very brief overview of the Italian alphabet and pronunciation. With the exceptions. But there aren't phonetic equivalents for the Italian words in he book.You do see many Italian words. They are in two column tables. One column Italian, one column English. Unless it is one column English, one column Italian. Most of the book is lists. The capitalization is inconsistent and occasionally the words are in the wrong columns. Needs a basic proof edit. Also, the tables don't adjust for size. If you reduce the size of the font that will probably cause the table to collapse and force you to scroll right or left and still not see all the columns at one time.There are a few sentences showing some structure, but no conversations, i.e. Paulo and Gina go Milan on the train. Less than you would find in a basic phrases for traveler guide.Disclaimer - I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Fantastic Fun for Kids By librarianmom I gave this book to my 10-year-old while she was laid up with a foot injury and she did not stop drawing for two hours. Super fun for kids and I met the author at a local book fair and he was a really terrific guy. The drawings are easy and will entertain young ones for hours.

It starts with familiar shapes and then builds on them in a simple and straightforward process. The designs are fun to draw without getting bogged down in sketching in the basic circles, ovals, and rectangles that are used in most other "how-to draw" books. Videos of Steve Harpster doing some of the drawings from the book are easily found on YouTube.

By lilsuperstore's I checked out a copy from Smith Library Branch here in New Orleans. Today. The pictures are truly beautiful. The only criticisms I have are that some of the items that are featured have more than one picture of essentially the same things, just taken from a different angle or with different lighting. Had I been the editor, I'd have said, "Let's just have one picture of each item and include more. Some really interesting things, e.g., the carousel at city park, the Mardi Gras Fountain at night, and one of the riverboats could then be added with no additional cost and would give a broader view of N'awlins at night."But it's still very nice.

This book reads as if it were originally written in a foreign language and then translated by someone with very little understanding of the English language. That being said, if there were any real information in the book, I could overlook the poor grammar, misspelling, and all around lack of editing... But it doors not! As a beginner, you would be better off reading your camera manual and just start pushing the shutter release.

He was tired of taking dull images from Sony cybershot. This book advised to buy a Nikkon DSLR camera and i feel guidance on pixels was too good. He now know what pixelates are better for any kind of photography. The book is for new people.

Many new things to learn about camera and photography. I consider it best alternative to official manual. I wanted a high quality camera to take nature and vacation pictures and after chosing Nikon DSLR, a guide was also important. It filled that need.
