BOOK REVIEWS THAT SELL: Discover the Secrets of Getting a Boatload of Great ReviewsHaving a good number of high-quality book reviews can make the difference between mediocre books sales and having a best seller. Dr. Webb's last four books have ranked #1 in their categories.
Even after such success, Dr. Webb recognized that he was neglecting an important part of maintaining long-term sales. He concentrated on getting about 15-20 reviews immediately following the release of his books, but he failed to establish the process for getting more and better reviews, setting higher goals for reviews after the book launch. His research and testing for this book will prove themselves within the first week of launch, but also for the extended period following its initial success.

Allan "Don't collect reviews; Connect with reviewers."Self-Published authors will be glad to know that there is a book they can now refer to that explains the ins and outs of gathering reviews for books. The fact is this: As an author who self-promotes [and that's about 99% of us] getting reviews is tough. As authors we have to set up review teams of reliable people who are willing and ready to review your book when its launched; and then, after that, follow up with the people who promised to leave reviews but still haven't. And after that, follow up again...Yes, it takes a lot of work and hustling. With all the books out there, getting those organic reviews [reviews that just come naturally] is excessively difficult. Readers are consuming material so rapidly they aren't slowing down long enough to actually think about what they've just read. Another challenge for authors. In Gary Webb's book "Book Reviews That Sell", he really gets into the truth about getting reviews for books. Gone are the days where you can just rely on a handful of random readers to voluntarily write a review. Or buy reviews. Or ask for a review in exchange for something. So, as authors, we need to be aggressive and tactful with our review strategy. But, we also have to do this while abiding with Amazon's terms of service.Gary delivers the strategies for this as they should be done.He nails it in the section on building street teams. This is one of my favourite parts of the book. As Gary points out, a solid street team can mean the success [or failure] of your book. Gary gives some amazing advice and action steps here for building, nurturing and interacting with your review team.Gary also dives into "Where to get reviews & find book reviewers."This is a great part of the book. If you get nothing from this book at all, this section alone is worth the price of the book [which isn't very expensive]. This part teaches writers, not only the best places to get reviews, but also the worst places to seek them [review swaps, paid for reviews].In this book, not only does Gary show you where and how to find reviewers but, gives solid suggestions on building a relationship with those reviewers that are taking the time to review your book. Sadly, this is a step that many authors fail at. I like that Gary has made a strong point in bringing this to the front and talking about how important it is for your author business. Here are some more great suggestions for getting reviews a suggested by Gary:1. Reach out to bloggers in a similar niche as your book;2. Review the books of other authors and let them know you did this; then when your book is launched, see if they would be interested in giving your book an honest review;3. Use beta readers to find things wrong with your book before launch;4. Use KindleSpy to check other books in your niche for reviews and contact those reviewers;5. Create a secret FB group for beta readers [I like this one!]6. Join Author Marketing Club and use their free tools for finding possible reviewers;7. How to get reviews posted while your book is in pre-order mode. Wow! Great tip.Added Bonuses:-- Downloadable spreadsheet for keeping track of Reviewers [Excellent!]-- A link to a podcast about top reviewers.-- A full list of FREE/PAID REVIEW sites [very helpful!]-- Lots of links to useful sites that is saving you a ton of time doing it yourself.I will now be using this book exclusively as my "go-to" resource for, not just getting reviews, but cultivating relationships with reviewers. Most of the books I have read on collecting reviews have been focused on the #getting" and not the "giving" or "expressing appreciation" for reviewers when they join your tribe. Gary Webb's book covers all the bases and doesn't meet expectations that you would expect but exceeds them.

I was thrilled to get so much valuable guidance free. And today I BOUGHT A COPY for easier availability on my Kindle. This is a book I’m going to study and apply many times.QUALITY REVIEWS is the key phrase in this book – no gimmicks, no exchanges, no fees for reviews. The author, Dr. Webb, has done an in-depth and technically sound presentation. It is both an overview that can be grasped in about an hour of reading, but it is also a much longer education through the links offered and other source materials. Don’t be taken aback by his credentials, "Dr.", for his writing is very easy to understand in everyday language. This book also motivates me to write and market my books in such a way to attract more and better reviewers – not just “reviews.” But to build long-lasting relationships with readers, reviewers and other writers.I benefited greatly from the section on HOW TO AVOID THE DANGERS of having my reviews removed by Amazon. Also, I like the author’s insights into dealing with unfair reviews. Then there’s endorsements—how do I honestly get and use those. BUILDING A TEAM – fellow reviewers and writers who will enable you to do your best in writing and promoting. And all of that with enjoyment rather than struggle and “aim in the dark” methods. This book deals with many, if not all, of my concerns and questions in how to be a better reviewer, writer and publisher. It is also about helping readers get the most value out of their book shopping. The author is making a very valuable contribution to improving the review and writing processes.

By WAYNE DAVIES As a new indie author who has struggled over the past year to obtain book reviews, I’m always looking for help on how to get more quality reviews. So I was eager to read “Book Reviews That Sell” and learn some new strategies. This book provides well-researched information on a critical topic for any self-published author. In a nutshell, the author’s advice is: “Stop trying to collect more reviews. Connect with more reviewers.” He believes that the best thing an indie author can do to get good reviews is to cultivate substantive long-term relationships with reviewers. This approach makes sense to me. The challenge, or course, is that this approach is quite labor intensive and will require more time. The author acknowledges that and suggests that the legwork of relationship-building be delegated to a virtual assistant, since most of this work can be done via email and social media. The book takes you by the hand and shows you how to implement this process of getting reviews by connecting with reviewers. This was my favorite part of the book. The instructions are straightforward, practical and easy to implement. He even includes the exact email he used to connect with prospective reviewers for this book. I can testify that this is that email, because I received one myself a few weeks ago! Because I have posted reviews on Amazon for books about self-publishing, the author contacted me and asked if I’d like to read and review “Book Reviews That Sell.” I accepted his invitation, and I’m glad I did.Gary Webb is a successful indie author himself, and he is implementing the strategies recommended here. I like a man who practices what he preaches! This book was definitely worth reading and I highly recommend it to any self-published author who is looking for an ethical way to increase reviews. The book covers more than just the author’s preferred approach to getting book reviews. It also has chapters on the value of reviews, the recent crackdown by Amazon on fake reviews, and what makes a good review. I wasn’t expecting the author to address these topics, but I’m delighted that he did, because I didn’t realize how little I knew about them until I read this book.I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
