9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Do I have an abridged version? By Jason Humphries I've read the squirrel essay several times but at no point do I see the line "that's not how you wash a squirrel". The back cover also quotes a scene involving said squirrel and a washing machine - which is also depicted on the book cover, and yet my version does not contain this fundamental plot event. Do I have an abridged version? If so I feel this should have been more clearly stated on Amazon. I would accept a pickle or a drawing of a spider as compensation.

7 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Everyone please buy this book so he will write more! By Lee I've read everything David has written after being hooked on his emails years ago. Even the some what esoteric Victorian Edition and it's pages of insider humor. It has been amazing to see his development as a writer. His early books (Internet is a Playground and I'll go home then) were more of a one trick pony. Admittedly a hilarious one trick pony, but the trope was starting to wear thin, especially given that a lot of the material was recycled from his website. In his last 2 books (Look Evelyn and That's not how you Wash a Squirrel), there are more detailed and longer form stories that manage to be simultaneously funny, sad and shocking, but still with David Thorne's unique dry and sarcastic world view. You will have trouble putting this book down once you start.

Adorable designs of Maneki Neko, the Lucky Cat By iiiireader This is an adorable coloring book, which while it is aimed for children, I find a lot of fun to color, too. The book includes 30 designs of Maneki Neko, who is the lucky cat of Asian folk stories. The designs are a wide range of the cat in patterns and in vignettes with fans, cherry blossoms, koi, among other settings.This book is not like Creative Haven books as it is designed for younger children. The designs are printed on both sides of the page and the paper quality is good but not the same as the more expensive line. I suggest coloring with colored pencils or crayons if you are trying to use the designs on both sides. If not, just put something behind your work to keep inks from leaking through and destroying the following pages as all markers and gel pens easily leak through these pages.

This coloring book is almost bad. It's borderline. I was real disappointed. It only has 15 pages(30 total coloring pages). Look at the photos I have provided the cover is the only cover sheet worth it...buyer beware!

Pages are double-sided, which is why I can't give it 5 stars. Paper is good, but I have used only pencils and crayons, no markers. Worth the low price if you are in the mood for cute.

It goes right into the exact strategies he used (like condensed notes, pre-reading, mnemonics, etc.)2. He didn't start as an A student.3. He graduated in the top 1% of his class - and #1 in his med school class.4. You can tell he reads a lot. As a fellow reader, I loved this. There are so many good quotes, references to other books for me to check out, and lots more.In general, Dr. Rogers talks about the key strategies that he used on a daily basis, improving his own academic performance, as well as what he discovered interviewing other successful top students.Loved it, will definitely re-read.-Alex

Solid SPA design book refuses to choose a technology By William P Ross This book filled in some knowledge gaps I had on how to build a single page web app. It is a design book which explains the architecture of building a SPA along with guiding principles. The sections on the MV* frameworks were well written with diagrams explaining the differences between them.I found the choice of Backbone, Knockout, and Angular to be disappointing though. The chapters often switch between the frameworks and the author never states an opinion about which he prefers. Also the author dismisses React.js as not being part of the MV* family, even though React is more popular and superior in many ways to these frameworks. Backbone, and Knockout are getting dated at this point... this would not be a problem except the copyright for this book is 2016, not 2013. Also, there was no mention until the Appendix that Angular version 2 is a complete rewrite with different syntax than Angular version 1.This is still a decent book, but by the end the author has presented so many different choices of frameworks and technologies that I did not get a clear picture of the best way to build a SPA. The author suggests that SPA architecture should be technology agnostic; because Javascript technologies are changing quickly... it would have been a stronger book to choose one framework, state why, and go in depth more.

Pair I have spent the last decade developing J2EE web applications with traditional frameworks like Struts and Spring MVC. I am very new to SPA and have only looked briefly at a few frameworks and frankly I had a lot of concerns of how SPA could be used for creating complex applications and more importantly how you could troubleshoot and support a SPA application. This book did a great job of explaining how to organize your project code, how to maintain code integrity with modules (great section for me), how to use the browser history without going to the server (important for support), how to test your code, and how to automate tasks. These were all areas of concerns for me and how to implement SPA at work. The book does not pick a framework but evaluates many and even better shows extensive examples in AngularJS, Backbone, and Knockout. This book did what it says and I now feel like I have the understanding and design concepts to proceed with a SPA framework.

162 of 170 people found the following review helpful. Don't waste your money By Earl Evans This is garbage. I installed echo in June 2015. No manual came with it. Installation only took a few minutes. The first 31 pages (out of 77) in this book are devoted to 'what is it' and 'how to install it'. On page 20 he tells you how much it weights in kilograms but gives you the dimensions in inches. Pick a system and stay within it. There are several completely blank pages within the book. Makes it have 'more' pages. He gives examples of stupid questions as "Alexa, do you have a boyfriend?". This is what I paid $8 for! Example: "Jump into your Amazon Echo app and connect your Echo to the smart devices through the Settings menu. Once set-up has been completed you will be able to voice control Alexa to use each of the devices." "Alexa, turn on the downstairs printer." NOTHING about what you have to do to get the printer to 'listen' to Amazon Echo. Sorry Martin, there is a lot more you have to do to get this to works, like the smart devices. Your one paragraph and three example commands on page 65 just don't cut it. Don't waste your money buying this.

Jones I often roll my eyes and just skip over a review as negative as I intend this to be. I usually assume such reviews must be written by trolls or chronically sad, angry people. I am neither. But, I AM immediately returning two bound copies of this very thin "book" that I purchased to accompany the two Amazon Echos I purchased as Christmas presents for my adult daughters. Instead of gifting this "User Guide", I will delay shipping my presents to my daughters by a day, and I'll just compile and print out some helpful information from some recent articles and reviews reflecting the Echo's present-day capabilities.This "book" is an excellent example of how presumably honest, well-intentioned, Amazon consumers feel they must somehow find positive things to say about a product that they received for free or at a discount, in exchange for their "fair and honest review". These compensated reviews hurt others who (foolishly in my case) rely upon them in making a purchasing decision. Ultimately, I believe such compensated reviews will undermine the credibility of all Amazon reviews.This "book" is shallow drivel, containing very, very little useful information. It is printed in a large font, double or triple spaced, with LOTS of blank page area. Numerous (partial) pages just contain lists of cute example questions you could ask Alexa. You will learn FAR more meaningful, useful information by reading recent, "Most Helpful Reviews" of the Echo. BUT PLEASE, don't just trust my opinions. Had I been able to preview this "book", I never would have purchased it. Before you embarrass yourself by giving this as an unseen gift, consider downloading the $2.99 Kindle version to your tablet or desktop (along with the Kindle reader app) or of course to an actual Kindle reader, and then decide for yourself. Remember you have 7 days to return an unsatisfactory Kindle eBook.Mr. Butler, you should be ashamed of yourself.

I went looking for help with the remote. I'm still looking. It doesn't tell you anything that you couldn't easily figure out - except that the unit can answer stupid questions.
