About the Author Arlene Miller, The Grammar Diva, is the author of six grammar books and a novel. "The Best Little Grammar Book Ever" and "The Best Grammar Workbook Ever" have been Amazon bestsellers and are being used by schools and colleges. Her newest book is "Fifty Shades of Grammar," a collection of the best Grammar Diva blog posts. The purpose of Arlene's books is to clear up common grammar issues. In addition to writing books and her weekly blog post, she is a copyeditor for both fiction and nonfiction and offers grammar and business-writing presentations and workshops. She also taught English for eleven years. Arlene has been a featured speaker at the Sonoma County (CA) Book Festival, Bay Area Independent Publishing Association (BAIPA), Sonoma County Library, Romance Writers of America, Society of Technical Communications, College of Marin, bookstores, and community groups, and several radio shows, including KGO in San Francisco. By Sheri Graves Arlene Miller’s “50 Shades of Grammar” is one of the easiest to understand of all grammar books ever published. Subtitled, “Scintillating and Saucy Sentences, Syntax and Semantics from the Grammar Diva,” this book may be Miller’s crowning achievement, yet it certainly is not her last book on the subject. “50 Shades” is Miller’s sixth book on grammar, and I suspect she’s working on a seventh even now.What Arlene Miller does in her books is simplify the rules. And she does so in a way that makes sense. A retired school teacher, Miller knows her stuff. She presents information in a matter-of-fact way, incorporating humor and gentle persuasion.“Fifty Shades” is a compilation of selected posts from Miller’s blog, “The Grammar Diva Blog.”As the owner of four of Miller’s books on how to use the English language, I recommend her work without hesitation. Each of her books is less like a lecture and more like sharing a cup of coffee with her for a friendly conversation. She doesn’t write “down” to the reader but, instead, elevates those who want to learn.

By Gordon Anderson I never thought I would lie in bed, read a grammar book and not fall asleep out of boredom!Fifty Shades of Grammar not only has a funny title, it also makes it interesting to engage with common grammar topics.The book clearly shows that the author has digested grammar well before trying to get the reader to understand it.Very different from any grammar reference book I had when learning languages or teaching a foreign language. It's not your usual reference book. It's a grammar novel with 50 little chapters!I think it's my first grammar book that I enjoy reading.Andrea Anderson

Ms. Miller had a cute idea and ran with it!I purchased this book for my niece, who is a new teacher right out of college (mostly English for middle school) and thought she might enjoy it. I started looking through the copy I purchased for her and flipped to a page where the author had answered a question I've been trying to figure out for months (okay...question marks and exclamation marks go inside or outside quote within a sentence?). I easily had other questions answered (dashes and ellipses this time!) that I'm forever googling to find out, and of course the rules are different if you're American or British, so google not always the best source for grammatical questions. I have a publishing business, and this is just the kind of thing I need to know in a very concise way with a LOT of humor thrown in for good measure. It beats that old "Strunk and White" and "Chicago Style" any day for me now. This is my new "go to." Well done!

About the Author Andrea Kettenmann (born in 1959) studied art history in Gießen, Göttingen and Heidelberg before joining the art history department of the University of Hamburg. In 1986 she visited Mexico on a fellowship, and now lives there, working as a freelance art historian. She has now worked on a number of exhibitions and catalogues, including the catalogue for the retrospective on Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo’s husband, in Detroit.

TASHEN does it again By bernie After watching the Bio-Pic "Frida" (2002), Director: Julie Taymor, based on the book "Frida : A Biography of Frida Kahlo by Hayden Herrera, I decided it wad time to read more of this Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) who married Diego Rivera and was an artist in her own write.This book, "Frida Kahlo 1907-1954: Pain and Passion" by Andrea Kettenmann, Is a great and informative introduction to Kahlo, her art and the person behind the art. Not to sound shallow but the color reproductions and the photos are worth the purchase price on their own. However knowing what they are trying to portray always ads that extra meaning.No matter what book or movie you buy this is an added must to your library and a different look at the life and times of Freda.

At the end there is a summary grouped by morning, mid day, and evening. There are also hints about better vantage points than the most obvoous. I am puzzled why the pictures are only about 2 inches wide instead of page width. They do give an idea of what the scene is like.

Excellent overview on the properties and applications of RMT By Pichierri Fabio In the 1950s the great Hungarian-American physicist Eugene Wigner introduced the concept of random matrix, a Hermitian matrix whose elements are random variables. The distribution of eigenvalues of such random matrices are useful models in studying the properties of nuclear spectra whereby the Hamiltonian that govern the interaction among nuclear energy levels is unknown. Random matrix theory (RMT) and energy level statistics were further developed in the 1960s when physicists were investigating nuclear spectra but only in the early 1970s it gained the interest of mathematicians who discovered a connection between RMT and the Riemann zeta function.This 900+ pages handbook is a multi-author volume containing 43 chapters: chapters 1-2 (Part I) are introductory, chapters 3-23 (Part II) discuss about the properties of random matrices while chapters 24-43 (Part III) are concerned with the applications (mainly in physics) of RMT. Among the chapters of Part III, interesting applications of RMT that go beyond physics are those concerned with RNA folding, information theory, and financial markets. It is hoped that in the near future RMT will find interesting applications in other fields of science, particularly chemistry and biology. The standard text on RMT is Mehta's Random Matrices, now in its 3-rd edition (2004). An overview of energy level statistics and its application to the study of nuclear spectra can be found in Porter's book Statistical Theories of Spectra: Fluctuations (1965).

The pages are too thin to use markers which is all I use so it makes the backs of pages unusable. I'm going to use it for budgeting so I can do with out backs of pages. Lovely pages to color though.

I wish the photos would show pictures of what this planner looks like inside. First off, the planner is the size of a sheet of paper (which was probably listed in dimensions/description but I didn't pay attention). Secondly, it is laid out in calendar form with the whole month on one page with maaaaaybe 1.5 in x 1.5 in boxes to write tasks into. I was hoping for a normal planner lay out so it is just not what I was looking for or expected to receive. Cool concept though as far as a coloring calendar, which is why I give 3 stars bc if this and what I described above is what you're looking for then go for it :)

The spaces are kind of small to write very many things on each day. The extra "To Do" lists and other extras are nice as well.My biggest complaint is the fact that there is a misspelled word in one of the pictures. Did anybody edit this? It seems so strange to me that this was allowed to be sold with such an obvious error.

By Toafk178 The only part that has value in this deal WAS the shipping, and that has become much less reliable since they started using the US Post Office and 'independent delivery contractors.' In the past year, they have completely lost 3 of my purchases, one of which could not be replaced. Also, they often deliver only to the mailbox, which for me is 250 ft from the house, right on the street. I have tried to add delivery instructions. UPS and FedEx are the only ones who comply, but, as previously stated, they are rarely used anymore.As for the Prime Video, the majority is either foreign language, indie, documentary, or over 40 years old. Anything you want to watch will be available, but you'll have to pay extra for it.After comparing costs between Amazon Prime, Netflix, Dish, and cable, the most economical route is to just get a cable subscription and wait until you are ready to make a purchase that is enough to get the free shipping that month. With all the On Demand channels, you get access to much more quality viewing and still get to watch shows when you want.

By Amazon Customer This is not necessarily a review of the book, but I do want to vocalize my frustrations about Amazon Prime in general. First things first, no matter WHAT you've done in the past, it is never necessary to assume that a customer wants to automatically purchase something just by clicking on a link. What I mean by this is: I was at the "review my products" page, and right above my items, there were two links. One of the links says "Get Fast, Free Shipping and save $5.44 on this order" (with the savings being directly related to my total), and the other link said "YES, I want free two-day shipping". I clicked on the FIRST link, and instead of being brought to a screen giving me info on how this free shipping is possible, It automatically "renews" my prime membership, taking $102.00 out of my account (not the specific amount with tax). I put "renew" in quotes, because this has actually similarly happened to me before, about 2 years ago, and the money had to be refunded into my account, except under different circumstances. The person at amazon prime said that because I had previously had a prime membership (which was not true, it lasted less than 20 minutes after realizing my account had been drafted), they assume that it is OK to take money out of your account without verifying whether it is what you really want to do. I honestly do not know why I clicked the link in the first place, but long story short, that link should've taken me to another page, only to explain how you would receive free shipping. Rather, the link immediately sent me to a CONFIRMATION page, thanking me for signing up with AMAZON Prime, only to have taken the money out of my account. Of course, it takes 2-3 business days for this money to be returned, and I had a payment coming out of my account the next business day, which will send my account into overdraft. This is frustrating because I CAN READ, and why would they give you two link options if they both did the same thing? Anyway, I spoke with Amazon and it just made it worse, which is why I am now writing a negative review. If Amazon, or anyone else has any questions concerning this, please feel free to contact me at 713-397-3295.

They won't let you review it! The movie selection is poor at best. Not one movie I have searched for is included in prime (but you can buy or rent it!)... One free book a month? The only good part is the two day shipping... Or is it? Nothing is free people! The price is higher now to cover the shipping duh!

I had used the on-line manual quite a bit but was still just shooting in "auto" as the on-line documentation was difficult for me to follow. This book tells how to use the many features of the RX10M2 and when to use them. Well worth the money. Sony could and should do much better with the documentation. Wonderful guide to this camera.

The author takes you through all the menus and options the camera has to offer. He recommends, through his personal experience, what features are useful and which are not. I enjoyed sitting down with the book and camera in my lap and trying all the settings and features the author describes. Well organized and well written.

I found the information contained within this book to be invaluable. If you own a Sony DSC-RX10ii, you need to buy this book to go with it. You will learn how to use features you never knew existed. Great resource!
