About the Author Sonia E. Sultan is Professor of Biology and Professor of Environmental Studies at Wesleyan University, where her research group studies plant ecological development. Sultan studied History and Philosophy of Science at Princeton University, followed by graduate work in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology at Harvard University. By Jennifer Keene I don't usually read dating advice or self-help books, but the title is what caught my attention and made me laugh out loud. Plus, this book is as much memoir as it is self-help. The personal anecdotes are the best part of the book. Reading the stories about what the author and her friends have been through is entertaining and totally relatable. My favorite line: "Just because your boobs are lower doesn't mean your standards have to be." That's great dating advice for women in their forties -- or anyone who has become disenchanted with her boobs. After you read this, you won't be able to help but make great choices going forward.

LAUGH OUT LOUD FUNNY By Burnstar I was in tears because I was laughing so hard at the author's personal stories about dating---what a refreshing and humorous look at the ups and downs of dating. Warfield masterfully executes giving sound advice while simultaneously entertaining her readers. But what I really love about this book is its depth. Beneath the humor is an important message about how to live life in a more honest and self-affirming way. I loved reading about Warfield's journey, very empowering and inspiring. I know this book seems like it is only for women, but I think it is a must read for both women and men.

From Kirkus Reviews Short pieces capture a Chicago-area bird watcher's thoughts as he looks for glimpses of life on the wing. Lubow's advertising background gives him a good instinct for pared-down prose and punchy lines that approach the directness of poetry, as in "Place names": "I’m' not in the business of naming things. Still, that doesn't stop me from remembering them. And, in a way, that's the same thing." Lubow’s knowledgeable about birds’ names, habits, colors ...but wears it lightly...Many pieces speak of...longing for the wilderness. Yet, he says, "When you leave the woods, all settled and free of words, what craziness makes you go to the keyboard and type these?" Many readers will find the tension of this contradiction relatable. Wondering why bee populations are down and cormorants are plentiful, Lubow just shrugs:.."What’s going on? That’s up to science to figure out, if it can," concluding that "change happens—get used to it." Another essay observes..."was that meadowlark the last one you’re going to see around here?" About the Author Mike Lubow is a former VP Creative Director of a multi-national ad agency and founder of a mid-sized Chicago ad agency. (Actually, not mid-sized. Smallish, really, but big of heart). He’s written a popular column called “Got a Minute” for the Chicago Tribune, and has published fiction and non-fiction in a variety of national magazines from the literary to the glossy, some in Australia, New Zealand and several European countries. One of his stories was translated into four other languages. His newspaper columns have been collected in the book “In a Chicago Minute,” and ten of his published short stories have been collected in the book “Paper and Ink.” Both books are available online or through bookstores. He’s also creator of the online magazine “Two-Fisted Birdwatcher.” The author lives in the Chicago area. He’s a husband, father, grandfather, and could’ve played pro basketball if he were only a little taller.

Never looked at any bird that way before. But, hey, you gotta find a little poignancy in your life somehow. And Wild Notes is as good a way as any to get it fast and easy.

Wild Notes: Witty, Wise and Wildly Entertaining By Marc Davis "Wild Notes" by Mike Lubow is an entertaining and captivating journey into nature's realm, where man and wilderness become united. Sometimes humorous, sometimes dark, often both simultaneously, each entry in this collection of keen observations of the physical is also a subtle and simple yet profound assertion of the philosophical. Common and exotic creatures populate the pages of "Wild Notes" - birds, deer, an alto sax jazz virtuoso, each a character in a brief, Zen-like, and memorable story. "Wild Notes" is most enjoyable when read one page at a time, savoring the words and the tales they tell as if sipping Napoleon brandy. But you can also devour it voraciously, because once you start reading, it's hard to stop.

I really enjoyed how the short passages could be read on the train or bus or wherever you might find yourself with a few minutes to spare. Every page or two in this book is a stand-alone work that transports you along with the author on his trips through the woods or recollections of the same. It would be easy to say that it's about bird watching, but I found each passage much more transcendent than that. Fans of Leopold, Dillard, or even Whitman will find familiar pleasure in reading this book--but with a touch more humor. l'm looking forward to my next rereading.

At first, I skipped around and read the chapters that I was most interested in. Now I’m re-reading the book chapter by chapter. In each chapter, I have found at least one nugget of information that is helping me secure my company’s business environment. Most of the chapters are well written and helpful. I plan to get some extra copies to give this book to my top customers.

About the Author

Andy Cohen is the host and executive producer of Watch What Happens Live, Bravo's late night, interactive talk show. He also serves as executive producer of The Real Housewives franchise and hosts the network's highly rated reunion specials. 226 of 255 people found the following review helpful. ... adore this guy on TV BUT I did not like this book at all By Judi This is tough for me because I adore this guy on TV BUT I did not like this book at all. 1) I blame myself for not reading the title, it really is shallow 2) He hints on his show that there are insights into the celebrities that he interviews but the book is filled with abbreviations he uses for names that I guess I was supposed to recognize, innuendos about the Bravo stars that I was suppose to decipher and a lack of any interesting backstage stories other than the one about Barbara Walters.Andy is gay, lonely and interested in recreational and tongue in cheek humor , albeit somewhat less than high brow television. I can relate. I am not gay but I am lonely and get a kick out of his Bravo shows. However, now that I have read the book and realize that I am following the career of a guy who thinks I have nothing better to do than read abbreviations, innuendos and a detailed description of his dogs "pooping" schedule, I realize he has no respect for me as a fan and I wish I had not read the book.

I'm not really interested if there are no names. Beyond stories with no names, it's a lot of talk about walking his dog ( tracking the poos), dinners and trips with friends, and his weight. I liked his first book, but this was a miss for me.

It gives great insight into Andy's everyday life as a television host and executive. He works and parties, not much else to his life, it kind of made me sad for him. He lives a full life running from party to party, but it's clear that he lacks companionship. I hope he finds it in the form of a husband. I was not really interested in reading about him meeting celebrities, or his ridiculous obsession with loosing weight, it was boring. I wanted more behind the scenes info about his dealings with the housewives, he gave some but it was limited--I guess he didn't want to piss too many of them off. At the end of the day if you would be interested in watching a reality show staring Andy, then you will likely find this book interesting, because that is exactly what this book is only its in print. He wakes up takes his dog on a walk, then he has breakfast out with a friend, goes to the gym, has lunch with a friend. He goes to work, does his show, dishes on what the celebs don't want him to ask them, then he goes out to dinner or a party, comes home at 2am, walks the dog and goes to bed. Literally this happens almost every day for a year, with the exception of when he takes a vacation, then he parties, hangs out with SJP, KR, JF, & AC in any number of places around the globe. In the mist of all the partying he name drops big time, he says so in the foreword and he's not joking. I feel like this book was a throw away, something he had to do because he signed a multiple book deal, he didn't want to do it, but he had to sort of thing, and it shows. He said he modeled it off of the Andy Warhol Diaries. I think it's the concept he probably pitched to the publisher in order to get the book deal, but it was something he didn't have the time or the desire to flush out completely. If I were going to pick between his two books, I'd go with Most Talkative, he put the time and effort into that one, and it's much more sincere.

Find and connect to your Tribe and have something to sell them By Denniger Bolton Marc Pierce, the author who offers these 45 powerful and profitable blogging tactics obviously knows what he’s talking about. Like most of us or at least a lot of us have tried a blog and have not done so well with it. Something like 99% of blogs get little or no traffic. How to get traffic to your blog is what this book is all about, in other words, how to get into the one percent who actually monetizes their blog. One of the things I really liked about this book is the additional websites that he links to. Right off he suggests how to find the right industry to pick. “You want to chose a topic where people are already spending time and money,” he says. He offers a way to pick that niche which is explained in the book so that you get started on he right foot, but you need to pick something that has interest to you, something that motivates you to stick with it. to where you have 30 blog posts which is the point at which you are considered an official blogger. There is a wealth of information in this book that covers how to build a loyal following, ninja marketing, keyword research and long tail keywords which I didn’t really understand until I read this book.

I don’t know if the author realizes how long it takes before a blog can actually turn into a “money making machine” but I’ve been told it’s something that can take years and has a small chance. Either way, IF it’s something you want to pursue, you can find some good tips in this book.
