I felt the same way when I first heard about the methods I describe in the book. But now that I know it works, I'm kicking myself for not starting sooner.The process works. I felt a responsibility to make sure that it did, so continued to test my recommendations right up until the date that this book was published. In fact, as a result of the testing that I did to ensure that my methods of landing clients still worked, I landed several new ones in the weeks leading up to publication and now have MORE work than I want! I suppose that's a good problem to have though...This system works, if you're willing to put in the work. In my experience, most things worth having require time and effort to get, and this is no different.Lastly, I want to clarify a few things for anyone who is confused. This book is NOT about making a living off content mills or freelancing websites (many people find them useful for getting their feet wet, but that's NOT something I'd recommend as a long-term strategy). I share in the book what kinds of clients are best for making good money for your time over the long-term, and how to find them. And finally, this book is NOT about "how to do SEO" (the process of ranking websites highly in the search results), or "how to set up a website".That being said, I do recommend setting up a website to explain your services, since in this day and age, that's pretty much expected from any reputable business. :)

A winning plan for the right person By Whistlers Mom I read this author's first two books and loved them for their down-to-earth common sense and their gently encouraging tone. It's rare for an author to approach the uncomfortable subject of personal finance in such a way that excites readers instead of frightening and depressing them. So I was eager to read her latest, although I wasn't sure that I would want to review it. After all, I know a bit about personal finance (including credit scores) but I know nothing at all about on-line writing.But that's the beauty and value of Breyer's books. She assumes that you DON'T know anything and walks you through it step by step. In this case, she's teaching you the system that she's evolved for making money writing articles and web site content for companies that don't have time to do it themselves. In other words, free-lance non-fiction writing.I'm leery of get-rich-quick schemes, but I don't think this falls into that category. For one thing, this is not an opportunity that's open to everyone. In order to cash in, you must write good (i.e. grammatically correct) English and it must be standard American English. You must also be a reasonably proficient typist or it will take you so long to pound out an article that your hourly pay scale will be laughable. As this author points out, you can teach yourself good grammar and fast typing if you're motivated to do so.If I have an argument with the book it's that it glides over the research part of the system. Unless you're already an expert on the topic that the client wants you to write about, you'll have to research the subject. So your out-put will be contingent on how fast you type, but also on how fast you read and absorb knowledge and how your brain processes knowledge. Can you read an article quickly and summarize it so that you tell the important, interesting facts? Can you read several articles quickly and collate the information in them and combine it into a brief, readable summary? Are you naturally curious? Do you ENJOY learning about new things or will it be drudgery?For every writer who makes a fortune with a best-selling novel there are thousands of writers who make a living writing for newspapers, advertising agencies, trade or company magazines, or some other form of on-demand writing. Some are employees and some are free-lance. Some have an office and a parking space and benefits and some work in their pajamas. This author has discovered a new wrinkle on an old idea. The possession of a computer and internet access means that everyone has the potential to cash in on the demand for on-line content.You're the only person who knows if this is a viable choice for you. However, if you want to try it, I don't think you could do better than to start with this book. Ms. Breyer is a born teacher and she gives her readers the benefit of all the experience that she's acquired over the years. This is a business with few (if any) start-up costs. No franchise fees. No $4,000 "seminars." No hype. Just turn on your computer and start learning and (hopefully) earning. You're in good hands.Having read and enjoyed this author's first two books, I was looking for the next one in the series and happy to pay 99 cents for it. I've already recommended it to several friends who are looking for ways to make money at home. I'll keep you posted.

I was hoping for at least a little nugget to assist in resisting return to corporate America. Boy, was I surprised. I read this book at one sitting with my early morning coffee. I found an outline with details. On finishing the book, there was no doubt I could actually do this--and I am. This book is for you if you're looking for extra income and are willing to work a little. The plan is simply laid out like 1-2-3. Great book.
34 of 38 people found the following review helpful. Readable but gimmicky By Big Apple This is an easy-to-read, well written guide, despite the somewhat hyperbolic title. This is a book about SEO writing, plain and simple. And there isn't much here that you can't find elsewhere. The premise of this book (turn your computer into a money machine) rests on the assumption that you have a website or are capable of putting your own functioning site together. And if you can do that, you don't really need this book. Assumption #2 is that there is a limitless amount of clients out there waiting to pay you for articles once you get to a certain level. Newsflash: There isn't. Go on any of these sites looking for freelanced SEO articles and there are a handful of jobs, usually about describing a garage door or something really boring. There simply isn't the work out there to satisfy the plan he lays out in this book - i.e. writing 3-4 articles a day or more. You'd be lucky to find 3-4 articles a month. Sure, you could become so good that you get the work that isn't advertised on sites from your personal contacts, but that's a stretch. And, again, if you are someone capable of doing that this book isn't going to tell you anything you don't know or can't find out via Google. But it was cheap and well written enough to make for a good motivational read. For that it gets 3 stars.
